Tove Kättström

Tove Kättström is a composer within the field of contemporary art music. Her repertoire includes pieces for a variety of ensembles, with a focus on chamber music. Tove has a special interest in shorter musical forms and music’s relationship to time. With a visual approach to musical creation, her work is often inspired by the visual arts. During the last year she has experimented in developing her artistic practice by integrating the visual art into her compositional process, such as composing music as ”tone pictures” and placing her music in the context of a gallery exhibition in collaboration with a visual artist.

Tove’s work has been performed in venues such as Stockholm Concert Hall, Västerås Concert Hall and Musikaliska Kvarteret. Her work has been featured in both Swedish and International festivals such as Svensk Musikvår and Nordic Music Days. Tove has a master degree in composition from the Royal College of Music, Stockholm. She is a member of the Swedish Society of Composers, the Swedish Society of Women Composers and Sisters in Contemporary Music. As a board member of Samtida Musik, she also produces concerts of contemporary art music in and around the greater Stockholm region.

During her residency at Transit, Tove plans to continue her investigation into new musical formats and how music can be integrated into other art forms. She also looks forward to explore new collaborations and art practices.
