Indra Linderoth

Indra Linderoth (b. 1984) is a queer actor, performance artist, voice coach, sound artist, and musician; one of the founders of the performance duo OFF HIGHWAY and part of the network Queers Against Fascism. She/They is a multidisciplinary artist working with human connection and listening.

“I work at the intersection of performing arts, sound art and performance, where the voice functions both as a tool for exploration and as a messenger – a way of listening rather than asserting. In my art, I am interested in vibrations, intimacy and queer bodies’ relationship to place, voice and collectivity. I search for expressions that not only communicate – but create connection and see sound as vibrations that create contact between bodies and space. As a kind of echo sounding where the voice reaches out towards that which does not yet have language, but is still felt. Through my works I try to access honesty, sometimes this means challenging traditional norms for performing arts and sometimes exploring new ways of communicating feelings, thoughts and ideas. In my creation, I work with active listening and presence and I am particularly interested in the interaction that can arise between the work and the people in the room who experience it. My works are experimental and audience-oriented, where the presence and experience of the participants is part of the work itself. My artistry becomes a dialogue – between different forms of expression, between me as an artist and the audience I meet, but also between the art and the world.”
