Ida Björs

Ida Björs was born in 1973 in Järvsö and is currently based in Kärrtorp. She studied at Konstfack (University of Arts, Crafts and Design), specializing in Graphic Design and Illustration (1995–99), and has worked as a freelance artist ever since. Her practice moves between artistic projects in painting and textile, and illustration for children’s books and editorial publications.

Since 2000, she has been engaged in a long-term project exploring ideas and perceptions around traditional folk costumes. Her work is also characterized by large-scale landscape paintings—both real and imagined—where nature, animals and figures coexist. Ida Björs is represented in the collections of Länsmuseet Gävleborg, Uppsala Municipality, Söderhamn Municipality, and Sigtuna Museum & Art.
