Alex Howes

Alex is a freelance illustrator and Puppet Maker from England who decided to leave London behind, moving to Stockholm last year. After graduating she was awarded an Emerging Talent Prize in illustration and is now working on her first children’s book Vem Är Vilse about a cat’s tireless search in the city for her owner who has gotten himself lost. The picture book will be published through Natur & Kultur in spring 2018.

Alex began her career in animation working on projects such as Shaun the Sheep and the Oscar nominated animated film Pirates. Working in animation has had a great influence on her approach to illustration. You can tell a story through art; stories about the secrets and eccentricities that hide just below the surface of everyday subjects and with characters that express the many different quirks and peculiarities of our personalities.
