Ellen Norlund

Limmerskan, Ellen Norberg

Ellen is an actor and artist, educated at the Academy of music and drama, BA program in theater with specialization in acting, University of Gothenburg, 2005-2009.

She works with theatre, performance, zines, installation mm. Often exploring ways of activating our tactile experience of rooms, objects and bodies, working with dislocations of perspectives in order to observe and question our perception of reality and normality.

Ellen often works with theatre in devised projects and she has in many performances been exploring the participatory role of the audience. Among others in productions as The Magic Circle, Sexy for real and We Are Close at Ung scen/öst and Potato Potato Performance Collective 2012-2014. Ellen has been working with theatre for an young audience for many years, for example at theaters as Orionteatern, Unga Teatern/Malmö Stadsteater, Uppsala Stadsteater and Ung scen/öst.

Since 2016 Ellen is one out of 4 members in the performance group Universalsköte.

Their practice is based on exploring femininities and soft values as an artistic strategy as well as in themes and aesthetics. They create salons, spaces for rest and inspiration for an exclusively female identified audience.

Right now Ellen is working on the projekt Limmerskan och The Glue Movement, an ongoing art project that show up in different forms and contexts, recently at The International Comics Festival in Stockholm 2016 where Limmerskan (The Glue Girl) presented her zines and at the Gallery Reality in Umeå with the work Threads of The Glue Movement – searching for Gluetopia.

The project deals with themes of alienation in the world and within the body and mind. Ellen´s alter-ego Limmerskan (The Glue Girl) has created her own universe where she relates everything to glue and explores the fragility and brokenness of memory, bodies and dreams.
