Ebba Gustafsson
Ebba Gustafsson (b. 1995) is a director and filmmaker educated at HDK-Valand. In her artistic practice, she works at the intersection of documentary and fiction, with a particular focus on how personal experiences and memories can reflect larger collective themes. Her work is characterized by a meeting of the serious and the playful, with recurring themes such as dreams, home, and belonging.
Her short film Constructing an Island (2024) has been screened at several international film festivals, including the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, Vienna Shorts, Nordisk Panorama, and SXSW London, and was also shortlisted for a Guldbagge Award. The film received theatrical distribution through Svensk Kortfilm c/o Folketsbio in 2024.
She has also directed The Future Futures Talk Show (2025), a project in which artists and advisory youth boards from Index, Praksis, and Publics discuss the moving image and the gaze of the camera, filmed at Konstfack.
She is currently working on a new short film project that was pitched at Stockholm Talents, and she is also a visiting documentary film teacher at Biskops Arnö.
