Talajeh Nasiri
Talajeh Nasiri is a playwright and dramaturg based in Stockholm. Born in Tehran, Iran, and raised in Bredäng, her work explores recurring themes of human relationships, particularly in the context of exile, trauma, norms, structures, and class.
Drawing inspiration from everyday environments like laundry rooms, vegetable gardens, and playgrounds, Nasiri blurs boundaries and lets unexpected events unfold.
In the play “The Terrified,” a bedroom transforms into a stage for nightmares and hope overnight. Nasiri depicts the relationship between two sisters, the youngest and oldest, exploring their memories of escape and the past. Through the darkness of the night and unexplored corners, she examines how these experiences shape individual identity and influence relationships.
In the audio drama “Awaiting a Verdict,” the listener follows a daughter’s struggle for her father’s right to care and the relationship with a father fading away. The play “Angel Game” explores a girl’s quest for answers about death, life, and unfathomable events with two unexpected friends.
Nasiri draws inspiration for these works from her own upbringing and experiences in method development and support conversations with vulnerable children and youth. Here, she also finds inspiration for dramaturgy aligned with trauma processing. Her plays aim not only to tell a story but also to create a deepened understanding of human experiences and challenge the audience to reflect on their perception of themselves and their world.
Nasiri thrives in collaborative creative forms and enjoys interdisciplinary work. Since graduating from Stockholm University of the Arts in 2017, her plays have been performed on stages across the country, including Dramaten, Unga Klara, and Dalateater. In addition to this, she has authored audio dramas and books based on interview materials.
In her role as a dramaturg, Nasiri collaborates with theaters, production companies, choreographers, directors, and playwrights to support the development of their texts and ideas. She has also served as performance dramaturg for both theater and dance.
